• Board the train at Hatton Railway Station for a scenic journey to Ella.


• During the train ride, you will pass through lush green tea estates, traverse numerous tunnels, observe farming fields, villages, and various types of forests.


• This train journey offers breathtaking views of the Sri Lankan countryside and provides a unique opportunity to experience the local culture and landscapes.


• Upon arrival in Ella, check in to The New Cabin Ella, where you will spend the night.

• Begin your day with a satisfying breakfast at the hotel, providing you with the energy needed for the trek ahead.


• Trek from Haputale:


• The trek starts from Haputale, leading you through a protected rainforest towards a scenic mountain cliff.


• Along the way, you'll witness the colonial-era railway line built by the British, which was used to transport tea harvest to the Colombo port.


• Scenic Route through Tea Estates:


• After the mountain cliff, you'll trek parallel to the railway line amidst misty tea estates, enjoying fascinating views of the valley below.


• You'll pass through one or two railway tunnels and reach a hill country railway station, followed by entering another scenic forest where a picnic meal will be served at a scenic cliff.


• Interaction with Villagers:


• Continuing through the forest, you'll eventually come across a remote tea estate and village.


• Here, you'll have the opportunity to interact with villagers, many of whom were originally brought from India by the British to work in the tea estates.


• You can observe tea plucking activities, weigh tea harvest, and engage with the villagers by offering gifts such as pens, candies, or chocolates, which they will highly appreciate.


• Homestay Experience:


• After passing through the tea estate village, you'll descend to another remote tea estate where you'll stay overnight at a homestay.


• The homestay offers basic comforts but is very clean, with stunning views overlooking a scenic viewpoint.


• Upon arrival, you'll be greeted with a warm cup of tea and genuine hospitality.


• The hosts will ensure your stay is pleasant by providing warm hospitality, teaching you how to wear the traditional Sri Lankan dress (saree for ladies), singing songs, and sharing life experiences over a traditional Sri Lankan rice and curry dinner.

• Wake up at 6 am and enjoy the breathtaking views of mist-clad mountains from the garden of the homestay.


• Savor a warm cup of Ceylon tea while taking in the tranquil surroundings and stunning scenery.

Trek to Horton Plains:

• After breakfast, embark on a trek to Horton Plains, starting from the homestay.


• The trek will take you through tea estates and forests, offering panoramic views of the hill country that are not accessible to ordinary travelers.


• Experience the natural beauty and serenity of the surroundings as you journey through the lush landscapes.

Exploration of Horton Plains National Park:

• Upon reaching the entrance gate of Horton Plains National Park, you will be transferred to start another trek inside the park.


• This approximately four-hour trek will take you to iconic landmarks such as World's End Point, Baker's Falls, and Chimney Pools.


• Along the way, enjoy a picnic meal amidst the pristine wilderness of the national park.


• Witness the stunning landscapes and natural wonders that make Horton Plains a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a must-visit destination in Sri Lanka.


• After completing the trek in Horton Plains National Park, you will be transferred by vehicle to a point where another short trek begins towards the homestay.


• Arrive at the homestay in the evening for a hearty dinner and overnight stay, surrounded by the tranquility of the hill country.

• Begin your last day with a warm cup of tea followed by a hearty breakfast prepared by the enthusiastic cook at the homestay.


• Enjoy the delicious meal while bidding farewell to the homestay and its hospitable hosts.


• Mountain Cliff and Tea Estate Visit:


• After breakfast, proceed towards a mountain cliff to get the best view of the valley below.


• Trek through a remote tea estate where you'll have the opportunity to interact with villagers and their children. Buying cookies for the children from the village boutique will be appreciated by them.


• Devil's Staircase and Scenic Drive:


• Pass through an area known as "Devil's Staircase," characterized by narrow roads with three hairpin bends.


• As you navigate through this area and the tea estate, the scenery becomes even more fascinating.


• Lanka Falls Picnic and Swim:


• Descend to Lanka Falls, a waterfall where you can swim and have a refreshing bath in the natural pool at the base of the waterfall.


• Enjoy a picnic meal served at this scenic spot, surrounded by the beauty of nature.


• Bambarakanda Waterfall Exploration:


• Continue your journey further down to see Sri Lanka's highest waterfall, Bambarakanda.


• Optionally, visit the starting point of the waterfall and descend further while enjoying the view of Bambarakanda waterfall.


• If desired, take a swim at the base of the waterfall to cool off and enjoy the natural beauty of the surroundings.


• Transfer to Negombo

• Finally, conclude your three-day trekking trip of Sri Lanka's central highlands, filled with memorable experiences and breathtaking scenery.
